Frugal Friday

So excited to post my Frugal Friday this week! I know I have made many of these since acquiring this pattern, but I found the most adorable knit tanks at Plato's Closet. And I thought they would make fabulous twirl skirts. If you have never heard of Plato's Closet it's a more "upscale" thrift store, if you will. They buy and sell gently used brand name clothing. I took my first trip there the other day. I found these...
and although they weren't what I would call a great bargain I had to have them. I loved the Muppet's Party Animal T(Carson asked while Elmo was mad), guitars tank and argyle tank. All together I spent $20, but before you tell me I got ripped off with my purchase of gently used clothing...I made TWO skirts! Carson's is a size 3/4 and Clara's is a size 12-18 months. It is still a bit big, but she will be able to wear it for a while and I think will be great when she starts walking.

We were inspired by our "new" clothes and formed our own band!

Carson is really into singing and performing lately so I thought this ensemble (guitars and party animal)would be perfect for her. And Clara loves and wants whatever her big sister has.
Like this...
and this...Look at that pout face!
It's really starting to become a battle in our house. I'm Sure it's just the beginning!

Carson gave a peace offering. She has quickly learned that you can make Clara happy by giving her something else to distract her from what she wants.
They "kissed" (or high five-d)and made up.
And continued to Rock On!

I Am in Love with...

this fabric!

I saw them here. I absolutely loved these leggings and knew I had to try them out. So I headed over to Ruffled Fabric and looked at all of their beautiful color choices. I chose the yellow with white polka dots (I think I got the last of it...sorry:))

The very next day one of my favorite blogs MADE had used the ruffled fabric to make most adorable tankini. I loved this look too!

So....

I made Carson some leggings using the Lil Blue Boo Lil Leggings pattern. Then I paired them with a white T with eyelet flutter sleeves from Carter's.

The leggings are so easy to make. It took me about 20 minutes cut to finish. You just have to be careful to make sure all of the ruffles are laying down and lined up.

Then I made Clara a top modeled after the tankini from MADE. I made ties at the shoulders. I took a pair of white bloomers and embellished them with some of the ruffles from the fabric. It was super easy. I just cut, pinned and sewed. That's it!
I am sure I will be ordering more Ruffled Fabric!

Thanks for stopping by...happy Hump day!

Simple Frame

Are you looking for a way to change things up a bit? Or for a gift for a new baby or friend? These frames are simple, chic and take no time at all!

Here's what you need...
-Frame
(These are from JoAnn's. They are $1.99). There is not a glass piece included.
I got mine from M&J Trimming. They have a great selection of colors.
Also from M&J Trimming
-Hot Glue Gun
-Spray paint

Spray paint your frames. I used Valspar spray paint in Ivory. I let them dry over night.

Take your ribbon and arrange it in the kind of bow that you want and glue it onto the frame!
Now place your decorative button in the center of the bow.

All finished! Wasn't that easy?!

This is my favorite picture of me holding Clara. She was one week old here. It's hard to believe she will be a year old in a couple weeks:( It was taken by a good family friend who owns her own photography business...Hollipop Photography. She did a beautiful job!
This just entered my mind, but you could also personalize it. Lil Blue Boo did a tutorial on a nursery plaque and used this technique. I think it would look great on the bottom of the frame...What do you think?

Either way you decide your version will look fabulous! Keep it for yourself or give it to a friend!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!

Sunday S'mores.

It was a beautiful Sunday night here in Florida!
We decided to go outside and end our weekend with an all time favorite dessert...S'mores! Carson had never had them before. She had "big eyes" as she placed the marshmallows onto the stick and then held it over the fire (the side burner on the grill). I know she loved making them...

But I think she had an even better time eating them!
She had to choose her own. She must have thought that one was the biggest!
Her smile says it all! I am sure we will be having these again!
What's your all time favorite dessert?
Hope you had a wonderful weekend! Thanks for stopping by!
