A Joint Party

This Sunday we are spending the afternoon at a joint birthday party for two of Carson's friends. They are both turning 3...so exciting! I decided to make them some twirl skirts with their favorite Disney characters.
Tinkerbell
and Aurora!
Both Disney skirts were made using the Twirl Skirt pattern from Lil Blue Boo.

Fall is right around the corner so I thought I would go with some fall"ish" looking outfits for the girls too. We have many warm fall days living here in Florida so short sleeves and skirts are appropriate. But I think the outfits would look really cute with a long sleeve shirt under the shorts sleeve shirt, tights and boots for the occasional chilly days.

The skirts were made with a thin corduroy. I love the bright colors. I found this particular fabric at Hancock Fabric store. You can find something similar at JoAnn Fabrics too. The pattern I used to make the skirts is the Edith Twirl skirt pattern. I love this pattern! It's directions are really easy to follow and has pictures to help you along the way. Which I like because I am such a visual person.
Aren't these lil' owl appliques cute?! Ashley has a pdf pattern download here! I did a couple of things different. I only used the inner owl piece on my owls and felt for my owl's eyes where she used buttons. I try to use what I have on hand and I have lots of felt!:)

I used rick rack on both skirts to give them a little detail and color.
Carson modeled Melina's owl outfit.
She insisted on wearing her cowgirl boots with it.
After our little photo shoot, I wrapped their gifts up in little brown bags...
with their names. I used scrap book letter stickers leftover from Carson's birthday place mats.
I used foam stars for the card. I punched a little hole and tied them with ribbon.

Happy Birthday girls! I hope you have a fabulous time at your party. We are very excited to be able to celebrate with you.
XOXO
